Modern Britain

Well done to everyone for their Modern Britain research homework!! Here are a few photos of some children presenting what they found out!

This week in Maths we have been learning how to add and subtract decimal numbers. After out initial learning we practised by becoming waiters and waitresses at a restaurant. The children had to work out how much they owed and how much change they needed!!

Well done to Ellis who was given a head teacher's award this week for his great work and enthusiasm in Maths- he managed to complete 41 questions independently and without any encouragement!!

Also this week we have been planning for Freiston and making sure everyone is feeling excited for Monday.

This week in Lincoln Class

In Maths this week we have been looking at different 3D shapes and their properties. To begin with we made 3D shapes out of cocktail sticks and gum drops. The cocktail sticks represented the edges and the gum drops represented vertices. We then dipped the shapes into fairy liquid to show the faces of our shapes with bubbles.

Following on from this we went of a shape hunt around the classroom and the playground and found lots of different 3D shapes which we then labelled with the name of the shape and the number of faces, edges and vertices it had.
By Friday we were experts at 3D shapes!

In English this week we have been looking at biographies and we started off with looking at Queen Elizabeth II. We researched the Queen and found out lots about her!

We then used this information to write our final biographies!

In our topic work this week we have introduced our new topic and created our own timelines for Modern Britain. We are all now looking forward to finding out much more about Modern Britain and how it has changed!
